JUDGE CERTIFIES CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST GEO GROUP’S NORTHWEST DETENTION CENTER

The lawsuit filed against The GEO Group, Inc., alleging the company violated Washington minimum wage law by failing to pay civil immigration detainees the lawful minimum wage for work essential to the operation of the Northwest Immigration Detention Center, may proceed as a class action, ruled a federal judge. The lawsuit filed by attorneys Adam Berger, Lindsay Halm, and Jamal Whitehead of Schroeter Goldmark & Bender of Seattle, Washington, Andrew Free of Nashville, Tennessee, and Devin Theriot-Orr of Sunbird Law, is believed to be only the second such class to be certified in the United States.
